Alexia “Lexie” Harrison, Licensed Associate Substance Abuse Counselor
Hello! My name is Lexie and I am a Licensed Associate Substance Abuse Counselor.
My special interest is working with adolescents who have substance use disorders. I see the teen years as a formational time of life. I enjoy working with youth to deepen their insight surrounding their addictive behaviors. I apply evidence-based theoretical models such as Motivational Interviewing, to help my client develop ongoing motivation to change, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to frame new ways of thinking that bring about better decision making and outcomes.
In 2016 I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Arizona State University. After graduation, I realized that I was truly passionate about seeing people healed from addiction. So I went on to complete my Master’s degree in Substance Abuse Counseling at Grand Canyon University. My therapeutic experience includes working with clients at residential treatment facilities and outpatient settings.
I also meet with clients who wish to incorporate their Christian faith into therapy. I believe that the biblical worldview offers clients hope, purpose, resiliency, and healing that no other worldview can offer. Above all, I desire to be an instrument of God’s grace in the lives of my clients.
